Basketball season begins...

And while I'd love to show you how cute Gabbi looked and how fierce Oni looked.... I can't do that. For two reasons I can't do that... one is that while I had some lucky breaks and got to leave work early so I could catch some of their practices.... it was raining sideways and traffic stunk..... so 45 minutes later... and several attempts to reach my husband (who has no reception in the gym we found out) as I'm almost driving past our home- and I reach him to ask- do you have my camera with you???? Great- I'm almost to the school I'll see you in a second.....what do you mean Gabbi's first practice was cancelled and you're on your way home????????????

Now- I was super frustrated with traffic anyway- and now I'm crushed that I don't get to witness at least one of my kids' foray into a real sports program....but the topper is- that while my dear sweet man took my monster bag of cameras with him- the fact that he didn't take a single frame for me has nearly sent me over the edge tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He says that Oni was having a hard time finding her courage and he didn't want to make her self conscious......you WHAT????????????????????? Heaven help me...... Our Oni is a gentle giant- she's so sweet- and so worried about what people think of her- and since she's never played- and it was obvious that several of these girls had played before (yes- even at age 8.....) Ron says it was a bit intimidating for her..... so I get nada tonight for all of my efforts to be a part of it. I'm sad....

I even stopped at Michael's last night and picked up the perfect scrap booking embellishments for pity's sake!!!!!!

I'm sure I'll live- but I'm still sad.

On the upswing- and as suspected- Oni towers over the other girls- with the exception of one girl- who Ron says is the same height- also a pretty mixed girl like Oni- but that this girl- had hoops! So we're going to have to help her practice here at home more. The coach took one look at her and asked how old she was and then said- are you sure???? :)

Another coach there asked why Gabbi wasn't on her 4th grader's team- and Gabbi said, because I'm in 1st?????? So our gorgeous girls are growing tall and growing up fast.... stay tuned- will see if I can manage to get some shots at practice on Monday....

Darlin, I understand. My first disappointed experience was Trenten refusing to get into his costume and NO pictures of Halloween 2008. Crushed. Frustrated. Disappointed. Yup, I even cried for about 5 min on Thomas shoulder. So I hear ya! I totally hear ya. Yet it was nothing a wee bit of Trillium Rose couldn't fix right up. There will be another practice and THAT will be the one you will capture all the girls moments. THAT will be the one where Oni will not be so nervous and have more confidence. You'll see. Love to my girls, Auntie Heidi

There will be plenty more practices, But believe me the games are where the good shots are at!!! Your talent for photos will surely yield some awesome photos of the newest hoopin' girls!!!
