More sights from the zoo

Zippity-Zoo day

So after the brisk visit at the pumpkin patch, my mom (who is visiting from out of state) and the kids & I zipped on down to Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. The weather could not have been more perfect- it was chilly and breezy- but the colors and sun were amazing!!!! Will have to finish downloading from mom's camera as well for these photos- my battery croaked- so she generously handed over her Canon XTI for me to finish the trip through the zoo with.

Fresh produce

More fresh flowers and produce from our trip to the P-patch!

Start at the beginning...

Ok- so I really should start at the beginning of this crazy busy weekend! Early on a very foggy Friday morning we headed to the Pumpkin patch (it's a tradition I started with the kids as babies- and we'll do it until they graduate high school- wheather they want to or not- kinda like visiting Santa.... just do it!) :)

My friend Leessa and her son Max were up visiting from AZ this weekend. We used to always be doing something together way before the the kids were born- but especially since then or at least until they moved several states away- not that I'm bitter here......ok- I'm super sad- but so glad they still come to visit!!!!! :)

(Max & Oni are days apart - been friends since before they were born.... And Leessa and I are a day apart on our birthdays as well- so we have always spent our birthdays together.....) So..... it was a treat to have them visit on their way over the mountain to see her family. We met at Stocker Farms in Snohomish (love this place- it's easy access, clean and organized- and even when it's rainy and wet- it's not too muddy!)

It was such fun clowning around- the kids acted like it's only been a couple of days since they saw each other last and were off running and chasing around like old times. My mom says that's the mark of true friendship- when you can go months or years without seeing each other- and pick up right where you left off.......
I have to say thank you to them both for stopping in to see us- it was great to see you both! xoxo D

Perfect day

What a perfect weekend- and these are from yesterday at the end of a perfect day!
My neighbor's Kids are so beautiful- and have the MOST amazing eyes..... they are positively dreamy!

I'm actually working in reverse here- on a glorious 3 day weekend vacation.... these were shot minutes after I got home from being at the ocean with mom and the kids. Our sunlight was fading- and I wanted to catch what light I could- so we ran with it!

The kids were so good at helping throw leaves on each other and cooperating with what I asked of them- they are close knit siblings- it's a such a treat to see them love on each other like that! :)

Work-y-work-y!

Meanwhile I am working diligently on attempting to get caught up on photos.....

I'm sure that M&K will be glad to know that their stuff is almost done! :) They are so nice but a bit shy.... so it was fun that I got them to loosen up and be silly with me....

....In case you haven't noticed- I'm a silly kind of girl- so shots like this appeal to me. :) More than anything I think fast forward in my head... how fun would it be to scrap book this- or how fun to have these shots with your family or sibs in 30 years- and they have families of their own?????

Crazy weather

Ok- I know that several of my post have related to the weather- and that seems like such a trite way to start a conversation- but this has been the most manic weather week! It was chilly and cloudy and smelled like rain when I walked the kids to the bus stop this morning..... a little mist and rain never hurt anyone..... and right as the bus left- we moms were left to dodge almost sleet like rain- huge drops that almost hurt.... and then- about 40 minutes later.... the clouds opened up and gave me blue sky and sunshine...... I don't get it! I did run outside and catch a few shots with the sun tho....

Fabulous Fall

The first week of October arrived- and brought wind and rain with it! It became fall almost overnight.
The smell of the ultimate cold weather dinner from tonight is still hanging in the air- my potroast with potatoes and carrots(and lots of garlic and onions.....are you drooling yet?) ....mmmmmmmm!
And I'm feeling the need for a little coffee nudge for desert while we four snuggle up and watch a movie tonight - and maybe light the fire. :)

The trees have all started to change- but I fear that the wind will blow all the pretty leaves off before I can get some decent photos.

I decided it was ok to decorate for fall now that it was beyond October first.... and yes- I'm one of those moms.... the one who decorates for every season.....

I'll add the skeleton and bones on Halloween (I just don't trust that someone won't steal them if I leave them out all month...) to the hedge you see in this photo-

And I love that the fall decor looks so pretty against the stain color on the entry way.... that stain color has stressed me out since the first brush stroke this summer....long story.... but it ended ok.

Not much new to post from the weekend- it's been a weekend of errands, house work, and editing. The weather was lame and unpredictable- so my shoots will have to reschedule.
