Weddings, wishes and whispers.....

These are from my friend Heidi's wedding this fall.... and at that point- I was so busy I coudn't breathe- so we joked that it was going to be New Year before I'd get caught up- and she laughed and said- that's ok- it'll be New Year before I can fully pay you! Thank goodness for good girlfriends, huh? Well, I've finally had some time to play with them lately.... so here's a quick gander.....

Something borrowed.....these were my wedding earrings too!

How romantic is the hand in the small of the back? And how sexy is the back on this dress???

Sweet nothings....
Dancin the night away....

Birthday girl #2

This has been a crazy couple of weeks around here! Gabbi turned 7 last week (I'm just slow to post)
She is the most horse crazy little girl you've ever seen!!! I found her a horse game for Wii- and she's totally in love with it- all she thinks about, talks about and wants to do.
There was also another box- for both girls- FULL of gorgeous horse related books and crafts from G'ma Sherrie (my bonus mom once removed.... it's a long story- but she's a love and we're happily still in touch).
But sadly- it was a school day- so we had to quickly wrap up the birthday celebration, and get ready for school.... and after a plate of birthday pancakes- away they went! :)

(and really- how can you go wrong with a plate full of golden pan cakes- in the glorious, golden morning sun????)

Stay tuned....

For those of you who check in for my "pro" shots......I promise- the calendar is begining to fill up- so there really will be something other than my kids on here soon. :)

Gabbi's game....

Our Gabbi girl is starting to turn it on the last couple of games.....
She's got a mean streak...
and she's a crazy accurate shot already....
I'm still amazed at how these little tiny girls are already figuring out defense....

Little Lady Huskies team photos

So somehow.... I got voted to take Gabbi's team photos.... and I wasn't even there! :) I had been spotted at practices and games by other parents- and was voted to take the photos. So I did this singular pose for all 7 girls....

and this as their true team photo....and this one- just for fun. It pretty much seams up what all the kids already think- "Mrs. Miles is crazy" but it works! :)

The Red Hot Fire Monkeys....

I'm sure you were expecting something from Nt'l Geo....but no- that's Oni's team's name this year..... it's a long story.....
but here O's teammate and new friend K gets ready for tip-off....

Oni bringing it down court...
O & K taking out the ball (I really hope they can continue on this new friendship- and really hope they can play ball together- they mesh well)
These are K's sisters....K&K- and they and Gabbi- are like peas n carrots.... crack all of us up- all three little fro-po's zipping around together.

Especially these two...
Oni starting to find her defensive side....(we've told her that at this point we don't care if she fouls out.... at least we know she's in there playin' D

she's getting in there now...

Her friend K is leaving the ground to shoot- gonna be a monster as she gets older- can't wait to watch this girl play ball later.....

Party People if you're havin' a good time......

And in they go!!! It was the Surf's up birthday party for the girls last weekend. What an insane day!!!
We had games for both girls- stay tuned for those pix..., I shot Gabbi's team photos, cleaning house in between games and photos, and then a reunion with a high school friend of mine, that I had't seen in twenty years. It was a crazy- but super-duper fun day!!!!
The kids and their friends had a "swimmingly good time..." ba-da-bum!" Seriously- I think they could have swum for longer... but every good thing must come to an end. :)
I wish we could have had more of the kids' friends to play- but sadly it was limited. And so is your time- it's tough to fit that much play and party time into only 90 minutes.....

There was an extremely generous amount of gifts- the girls are blessed to have such super nice friends!
We closed with the happy hula cupcakes and headed home- and the girls headed to a girl friend's house to spend the night- it was a great night.

Hello Cupcake!

You know- there are some days- or in that case- some nights.... where I wonder what the heck was I thinking.....take last night for instance as it's nearing midnight- I'm finishing frosting the last of the 4 dozen confetti cupcakes, filled with vanilla pudding, topped with whipped vanilla frosting and dusted with sparkly colored sugar. To complete the look I topped that with little Luau inspired Hibiscus party picks... all in all- I think they turned out simple and cute. But there is a nagging doubt- are they cute enough???? Will the girls' friends think they are cute, too????...And then I realize- that it's just a cupcake and really- what are cupcakes but a delivery system for frosting anyway......
This is a crazy couple of weeks in our house.... the kids' birthdays are two weeks apart- so we take the weekend in the middle and have a joint party.... which has always worked out well.. but I wonder how much longer I can get away with it! (one party, one prep, one clean up- it's just so much easier....)

It was their call this year- I let them create their invite list and I have to say- I was surprised at the results.... some kids I figured they'd definitely invite from the neighborhood or basketball- "no, not this time"- and kids from school that I'd scarcely heard of... "yes- I want to get to know them better" on the list....so we'll see how it all goes.... and that whole process- good grief.... trying to get invites to their teacher for discrete distribution.... and other kids who don't get the discrete part once they've received an invite- and other kids with hurt feelings, "why didn't I get an invitation????? Can I come????" Oy-vey!

This evening's party should be great fun- we're doing the "moonlight" swim at the pool. The kids get to swim themselves silly for an hour with the lights turned down, and music playing. And then break for snacks and gifts... and then home and off to bed with them. Should be fun!

But there is much to happen today before that all happens tonight. We have two basketball games, and I need to shoot team photos for Gabbi's team in between the games, then the party- and then we're having guests from my old school days who are in town, that are coming by for cocktail hour at Che Miles. :) Should be one crazy, crazy day!
