My girl Fi Fi at Daydream Believer has been very crafty and busy this summer- she's turning out some seriously cute stuff lately!

Aside from the knit-werks that she's been creating as newborn and toddler props for me....(and I LOVE her long time for those!!!) She has been creating the super versatile dahlia headbands and rose clips for the big girls and the vintage hats and rose headbands for the babes... and they are soooo cute!

She also has some of the coolest/softest infant burp rags ever!!! Seriously- if you have to wear one for 6 months... make it a fashion statement!

Post Cards from Home Tour

I'm not sure I even had time to mention in all of the chaos that has been the last couple of months that I was invited to show with my famous daddy over the 4th of July in Grangeville!

He was holding his 23rd Annual Geis Bronze Show at US Bank on Main in Grangeville. I and Mallory Silversmiths from Enterprise, Oregon were the guest artists. We had a great 3day indoor event with constant foot traffic- and we all did very well. :)

I feel like my first show was a success- I sold several framed prints, cards and calendars that feature my work. I called my exhibit Post Cards from Home. It features the images that are significant to me about my life growing up in Idaho County- and they were aged out- as if looking back nostalgic... and they become more vivid in color and contrast as you moved toward where I was sitting- in the present- in my crazy and colorful world in Seattle.

I have since received more requests for the calendars since arriving home.... for the images of Idaho County.......so in this first grouping- you can get a glimpse of the feel of that calendar. The next two sets feature the color and feel of the other calendar that I also have stock on hand for, the 2011, 'A Walk in the Park'. The calendars are gorgeous satin finish 10x13 heavy stock papers- on a double spiral binding. {$22.50}

And I also have prints in simple elegant glass only frames (w/ minimalist silver clips ) @ {$25 & up} and 10 packs of cards with my images on them {$15} for the perfect gift! (or treat yourself....)

Tulip Time

Ahhhh.... Spring in the Pacific Northwest! April can mean only one thing.... the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

I am a bit behind in posting- and we were a tad early for the blooms....these were shot two weeks ago- and I'm sure that the fields are fully open now and totally perfect- if you are looking for something fun to do- you should run up and see- grab lunch and bring your mud boots for the kids- let em romp and get some fresh air!

I didn't get any super great shots- had cold wet and super windy conditions- but they are colorful. :) Hope they make you smile- have a great day!

Just BE.....

Living proof that we girls hold the power.... and if not.... at least just live for the moment and work quickly!!!

Our weather last week, that had been so gorgeous... ceremoniously went to crap on Friday with 35-40 mph winds and sideways rain. And my hopes for a gorgeous day to shoot at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival were swirling in the bottom of the drain. *insert very sad face here*

So when I woke up to heavy grey clouds... my heart was more than a little heavy. I have had Lisa and her family on the books for months- and I'm unavailable the next two weeks for any kind of a make-up- so it HAD to happen this weekend or we'd miss our window to shoot them in the tulips.

Apparently- we five were a force to be reckoned with- because not only did it NOT rain on us- but the sun even flashed us a smile for a bit! (of course that's not to say that after we wrapped and I was walking around enjoying the views that the rain chased me all the way back down south....)

Lisa and I have talked a lot recently about the fact that we've lost several folks close to us the last 6 months- and that we all need to stop procrastinating- stop waiting for the perfect hair cut or perfect outfit or size..... we need to just BE- be happy and be present- and have photos snapped of us- with our families without worrying if it's perfect. LIFE isn't perfect- make the most of what you have-every single day-smile- hug and kiss those around you- and it will become more perfect than you first thought.

I did have the girls pose for some of these shots- but the best stuff came when they just let themselves BE- be relaxed and in the moment. I LOVE that with a capital L! *no secret as to where they all get those killer blue eyes tho....*

Pretty in Pink

Good Morning!!! Happy Monday! Ok- so it's Monday- but the sun is shining, spring has sprung and it's only 4 more days to the weekend- so really- it's not THAT bad. :)

I just wanted to share my shiny-object moment from this morning. I was cleaning and emailing at the same time this morning- ( I know- OCD meets dork) and the sun was pouring through the kitchen window and it was highlighting all the glistening, iridescent and (somewhat alien looking at super close range) gorgeous parts of the lone lily left standing alone in a vase in the window-sill.

Those spots on a Tiger Lily- are actually texture if you look closely..... guess we should take the time to look a little deeper at things, huh?

Perfection in Nature

This summer has been such a whirl-wind of photos and activities! And now it's winding to a close already as school is just around the corner. I took a few minutes before and after Sunday's shoot at the Evergreen Arboretum to just walk and enjoy and listen to the birds sing. And I was struck- once again at how absolutely perfect nature is.... how intricate the leaves and flowers are- how brilliant and varied the colors and textures are......

I figured it would be breath of fresh summer air if I shared some of those images with you. :) Hope you enjoy!

On another note- if you are a garden buff- or have someone on your gift list who is.... I offer hand-made note cards and prints of my nature/floral images, in any size..... (I know- cringe at the thought- 16 weeks to Xmas.....)
