Family Fun at the Beach

I just love it when a plan comes together! When I woke to cold drizzle this morning... my hopes were not high that today's family photo session at Edmonds Beach would come to fruition.... but it did!!! The only clear skies to be had in North King and all of Snohomish counties- were found at Edmonds Beach! And we had a ball!

Eric & Kristi and their kids were so funny and laid back- I just loved them! We played and got wet and sandy and almost got drenched in some sneaker wake... but we hopped up quickly enough to save us all from a wet boo-tay!

This family holds a corner on the effortlessly good looking.... perfect freckles- incredible eye color, great smiles and flawless skin!!! They are a photographer's dream! :)

Bellingham Highland Games

So I know that I haven't been blogging much lately- and I do apologize for that. I have had several trips and adventures this year- and it is so good to get out and see friends and make a momentary break from my office chair.... but that means that I was away from my office chair- and not staying current on client photos.... so I've been diligently working all week and have moved some files off of my open desktop- *yay me!* And since I had a couple of minutes tonight- I thought I'd share my trip to the Bellingham Highland Games. This was their 50th year- and it was one heck of a party!

This event brings out a tremendous variety of people. From the performers to the costumed fantasy player, the bikers, the families, the athletes and those who are simply curious.... this event is a people watching bonanza!!! From the beautiful to the strange, the way over the top eccentric to.... I just don't even know what to say about that sho-lo-mullet-rat-tail stuff..... but it warranted a photo- because I knew for a fact that no one would believe me if I told them!If you have never attended- you should! The competitions, color and pageantry- the rites and rituals... and just the all out fun of it all! Make the trip next June- you'll be glad you did!

The beer gardens are a huge draw as well..... and it was good.... I worked the garden this year with my friends Karlene, Heidi and Jared- we were all sporting t-shirts that read 'Blue Ewe Brew Crew'.... and I wore it proudly. :) I had a ball talking with folks as I took their money and gave them their tickets to beer happiness from Boundary Bay Brewery!

Go for the Gold

What a crazy fun, sports filled weekend!!!
My Aunt and cousin and cousin's daughter were on this side of the mountains this last weekend for a gymnastics meet, and my girls had an all weekend basketball tourny... so we were keeping the road hot between the events! We had so much fun hanging out and all 6 of us girls giggling! Alyssa and Gabbi are like peas & carrots and I'm not sure that the three of them ever came up for air when they were together! They did get some swimming and play time in between events tho- and it was good!
Lyssy finally nailed her kip- and her beam routine was amazing! She narrowly missed qualifying for Regionals... but I KNOW she'll hit next time!

I see gold for this one in the future! For such a little girl- she has amazing presence!

Seattle 3DAY- Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the Susan G. Komen 3 DAY- a grueling 60 miles- in three days... all on foot! All of the participants had to raise 2K- minimum to take part- all going to the Komen foundation. All to raise awareness, and help to fund mammograms, education and research related to breast cancer. People walked for a million different reasons- but the common denominator- is cancer- in someone they love. In some way- we all want to help- to make it better, to take away their pain- to celebrate the ones who made it- and to mourne the ones we lost- and to cheer the ones who are fighting like hell- to fall into the first category....

My girls Nicky and Trish have been fundraising all spring and summer and I've been their resident stalker- trying to photograph this amazing journey, that they are taking together. So I was super excited I was able to spot them so quickly today- and to be able to connect with them as they took a break for lunch.....
And as I'm snapping away- I hear someone yelling my name... to my surprise I see Miss Lorraine- trucking right along! So I feel blessed to be a small part of celebrating and cheering my friends on- I'm sooooooo incredibly proud of them- and of all the folks- young and old, male and female, thick and thin- you are doing a most amazing thing- I'm so proud to have been a minute part of your amazing day!

My girls were along for the ride, yelling out the window and cheering along the miles of walkers!

The cars and costumes were a scream...
My girls and everyone else were feeling it by lunch time today... some stretching and re-fueling was definitely in order.

It's a time of remembering and celebrating....
I figured it would be the least I could do- so I put down my cameras and rubbed some feet and ankles....

The girls of summer......

...or at least the little "Girls of Summer"! :)

The usual suspects around here were almost all present and accounted for yesterday in the heat of the 4th of July gathering that unfolded in our front yard.

There were buckets of slosh-balls, water balloons, super soakers, hoses and sprinklers- and all the kids were soaking wet and screaming giddily all afternoon- it was great!

Gabbi and those eyes... playing super-model for me- cracks me up!

Oni and her "color co-ordindinated to match her tankini" water balloons-turned horns....

Gabbi & Lorin- otherwise known as Peas & Carrots.....

Halle and those A-mazing eyes
Samaya and that hair- attention all hairdressers- THIS is the color we're all trying to achieve!

Syd- another one with stunning eyes- they are almost turquoise..... soooooooooo cool!

And sweet baby Grace..... not to be left out of the poster girls for summer fun. Sister found the hose and had a grand time!
There is more- much, much more to share- but I figured I'd break it down by category for y'all!
Hope you all had fun yesterday!
xoxo Didi
