"In the Mood.... oh joy!"

Ba da-da-dat dat duh duh da duh de de duh..... can't you just hear Benny Goodman and his orchestra playing "In the Mood"????  Or the Andrews Sisters with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"?
We did a little vintage nod with Tommy and Ilene as part of their 20 year anniversary and it was scream!
She loves the vintage look and he was a career Navy man- so this was the perfect combo!
We had the fabulous L. Sam Samano on hair and make-up and my girl Fi-Fi on props- add some Absolute wild tea and lemonade and a gorgeous evening.... magic!

Weddings and Wineries....

This last week while we've been on vacation has absolutely evaporated!

Last weekend we were in Portland, OR to witness our dear friend Joel marry his long ago high school sweetheart Bridgette- who as the universe happen to see fit- to bring them together some 20 years later. They, along with Joel's beautiful daughters had a sweet ceremony at the lovely Elk Cove Winery. *you can read more about them here*

http://www.elkcove.com/

We had a great time as it was a bit of a reunion of old friends from our days in Bellingham and WWU... of course the boys had to keep the stories to a minimum as we're all respectable adults with kids now....(try not too hard to fall off your chair there.....). But truly- the rehearsal and the reception were great fun watching everyone reminisce and laugh out loud.

I had the luxury of just sitting back and playing at this wedding- but I couldn't help but snap a few shots- because the details, venue and couple were gorgeous.

I wish them a most happily ever after! xoox D

Here is the happy couple catching some last sweet sunlight on the fringes of the pinot grapes with their photographer. You can catch his work here:

The Things We Do For Love.....

ohhhh.... the things we do for love...... Jesse is a guy's guy- and not big on having his picture taken- and he's not particularly a big fan of the water, getting wet, or sand... let alone lay down in it! But he sure loves his girl Gwen.... and so he did. And we love him for that!

This is a "We Did" session, shot last night at Edmonds Beach, on what turned out to be a glorious evening. They got married earlier this year in a quiet and private ceremony- and now that weather is better- they decided it was time to get some pix done.

Thanks for playing with me guys- you were a great time! :) xoox Didi

*can i even tell you how much i love this above shot?????*

Romance

So- I'm still smiling and giggling.... the above photo was taken last night as I was shooting Melissa and Brian's family session.......... by my adorable assistant Gabrielle- who is also my 7 year old daughter. She was very proud of her "Romance photo".... when daddy and I asked her what romance was- and she said, "something beautiful"...... and we're good with that. (and a little bit of digital darkroom magic turned it into a total keeper!)
I'm so proud that she wants to follow in my big old footsteps.... here's my mini-assistant at work- she directed them on where to sit and set up the shot- and is making me think that perhaps her first generation hand-me-down camera may have to be upgraded- she's got an eye for someone so young. :)

Here's my version- taken at the gorgeous Grand Avenue Park in Everett- more to come from our session in a bit!
