Mrs. & Mrs.

Kelsey and Dusti got married last month and I had the privilege of being there for their gorgeous day!

It was definitely a wet one- but we had a great day at the Edgewater in downtown Seattle with these two beauties and their friends & families at their destination wedding!

 This is my bird's eye view of their day....
*****
I was there assisting for the fabulous Jenny GG of  www.jennygg.com
  You can catch her view of the day here:

We took in the SAM/Paccar Pavilion and the Arboretum for their photos before tearing up the 3rd floor for their amazing party.
I wish these ladies all the best in their future together!
Jenny thanks for asking me to come and play with you!

Jen & Jenny's big day

****
There is an industry joke about "Uncle Bob" - the loving and well meaning wedding guest(s) who inadvertently pops up and into the middle of the aisle with his iPhone and blocks your shot of the first kiss, or the first dance, etc..... It can be frustrating if you are the paid photographer, but you know they are just excited for their loved one.
****
So most of you know- I don't typically shoot weddings- I love portraiture.
 But.....Once in a while I will assist for my friends Jenny (Jenny GG) and Jen (Jen Wade)- who are crazy popular Seattle wedding photographers.

They have been wonderful and generous mentors and I am fortunate to call them friends.  I was honored when they invited me to their September reception back in January, to celebrate their frosty December morning elopement.

We were laughing about how do they choose another photographer to capture your big day when you ARE a wedding photographer and you know sooooo many people in the industry????
{Tough task- glad it wasn't a decision that I had to make....}

****

And then- they arrived at the solution- for their friends and family- photographer or not- to bring their best "Uncle Bob" effort on their reception date.  They will have so many different stylistic views of their day- it should be crazy fun when all of the photos trickle {or flood} in!

So here is a quick glance of my view of their day- which by the way- was sublime.  The amount of care put into every single  DIY detail was..... amazing.  It was absolutely lovely.

The love and warmth amongst the party goers was incredible.
{oh yeah... and did I mention Mary Lambert stopped by to sing "She Keeps Me Warm" }
{swoon}

Thanks for inviting me girls- I had a great time!

I do- we did- re-do......

I love it when I get to feel totally rebellious.... I get to go against the grain.... break my regimented calendar schedules and pick up and be spontaneous and go shoot pix just because I've got a wild hair and the sun or moon is just right, or I found the perfect patch of grass or daisies and when the light hits it a certain way- it reads like magic.....

I love even more- when I get to pull others into my craziness......

Enter Brian and Gina..... who's wedding I shot in May and it rained sideways and upside down on us on their big day....{again.... total rock stars these two}.

To whom I texted and said-
"hey... the weather is glorious today... wanna go play in your wedding clothes with me????"

And so on an hour's notice they met me at my place and I pulled my girlfriend Kristen {who is one of my absolute favorite assistants}  into my web as well... and the four of us were off to play in alley ways and random patches of daisies in the middle of the freeway..
 {don't ask...... I'm stunned we didn't get arrested either!!!}

Who knew you could change in & out of a wedding dress that fast in pubic.....
You guys rock- and I loves you long time!!!

xoxo Didi V.

The Things We Do For Love.....

ohhhh.... the things we do for love...... Jesse is a guy's guy- and not big on having his picture taken- and he's not particularly a big fan of the water, getting wet, or sand... let alone lay down in it! But he sure loves his girl Gwen.... and so he did. And we love him for that!

This is a "We Did" session, shot last night at Edmonds Beach, on what turned out to be a glorious evening. They got married earlier this year in a quiet and private ceremony- and now that weather is better- they decided it was time to get some pix done.

Thanks for playing with me guys- you were a great time! :) xoox Didi

*can i even tell you how much i love this above shot?????*

Brian & Ashley

Ahhhh...... all that's well ends well...... as the saying goes.

You would never- EVER know from this first shot- that we had every kind of weather shift- short of a tornado Saturday! It was absolutely crazy weather! We'd head outside to utilize the beautiful grounds of Wine & Roses Country Estates- sunny and nice- and the skies would open up and pour- and chase us back inside. We'd get inside and take some shots and the sun would come back out..... (we did this dance several times...)

But with a beautiful venue and a gorgeous couple- you can't help but end up with something good! These guys were so good natured and fun- and nothing short of theatrical- they posed and hammed it up well- made me giggle- love that! And they are so cute together- it was fun to just keep shooting while they talked and teased each other.

There are oodles of images to sort through- but for now- this will have to do!

Guys- have a fab honeymoon! Thanks for including me in your day!

Love is in the air.....

Love is in the air...

Valentine's day is coming soon and so is the "The Big Day" for Bud & Robin! This beautiful couple is getting hitched in Vegas in a few weeks but we wanted to do their photos Seattle Style....

I had sooooo much fun yesterday! (as I'm sure you see by how many previews are up already!) It felt so good to be out shooting pix again after my winter hiatus! The weather not only held- but the sun came out and man, what a gorgeous couple - I could follow them around for days! They didn't even blink when I'd say- "hey- can you climb up there?" "ooh- let's dance in the fountain!".... LOVE them!

(how could we resist this sign?????) We hit all the Seattle icons along 1st ave, Post Alley and Western Ave.

I was totally excited and kind of nervous working with Robin- as she is also a photographer and incredibly talented artist. (see her artwork here on her back...)

This shot makes me smile so big!
(ok- so does this one at the bubble gum wall in Post Alley)

The crowds in the market were taking pix of us taking pix- we stopped foot and auto traffic the whole time we were shooting- it was so much fun!

These two are soooo danged cute- you can't help but smile when you watch them together.

Guys- I had so much fun with you- have a great wedding- and I'll see you when you get back! xoxo Didi
